Carbon monoxide has no smell, no colour and no taste. It is produced when a fuel-burning appliance does not burn completely — a blocked flue, a badly fitted boiler, a cracked heat exchanger.
A test checks whether appliances are producing it and whether it is escaping into the property. It is not a substitute for a working alarm, which every home with a fuel-burning appliance should have.
The price you see is based on what you tell us. If our engineer finds that more work or materials are needed, they will explain the cost and get your agreement before carrying on — nothing is added without you agreeing to it first.

Questions
Common questions
I think there is carbon monoxide in my home right now. What should I do?
Do not book online. Open the windows, leave the property, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately. Seek medical advice if anyone feels unwell.
Do I still need an alarm if I have a test?
Yes, absolutely. A test tells you about the appliances on the day. An alarm watches continuously, and every home with a fuel-burning appliance should have one.
Where should an alarm go?
In the same room as the appliance, roughly at head height and around one to three metres away. Not directly above the appliance and not in a cupboard.
Which appliances produce carbon monoxide?
Anything that burns fuel — gas boilers, cookers and fires, but also solid fuel stoves and oil boilers.
