Most homes were wired when people owned a fraction of the things they plug in now. Adding sockets is usually straightforward, and considerably safer than running everything through extension leads.
Whether a socket can simply be replaced or needs a new spur run from the consumer unit depends on where it is going and what is already on that circuit.
The price you see is based on what you tell us. If our engineer finds that more work or materials are needed, they will explain the cost and get your agreement before carrying on — nothing is added without you agreeing to it first.

Questions
Common questions
Can I just have an extra socket where I want it?
Usually yes. How straightforward it is depends on how far it is from an existing circuit and whether cables can be run without major disruption.
Are extension leads actually dangerous?
Used permanently, particularly with high-power appliances or daisy-chained together, they are a genuine fire risk. A fitted socket is the better answer.
Can you fit outdoor sockets?
Yes. Outdoor sockets have to be weatherproof and RCD protected, which is a slightly different job from an indoor one.
