Terms & conditions

What you are agreeing to when you book, in plain English.

These are the terms between you and IOT Homes when you book work through this site. They are written to be understood, not to hide anything.

The price

The price you see is worked out from the answers you give about the job. It is the price for that job as described.

If our engineer finds the job is genuinely different from what was described — more work, or materials that were not accounted for — they will explain what is needed and what it costs, and get your agreement before carrying on. Nothing is added to your bill that you have not agreed to first.

Some prices are for labour only and say so beside the figure. Where parts or equipment are supplied separately, that is stated before you book.

The deposit

Booking takes a £10 deposit, which secures your appointment and comes off your final bill. The balance is paid after the work is done.

Cancelling or rearranging

You can rearrange or cancel using the link in your confirmation.

  • Cancel with at least 24 hours' notice and the deposit is refunded in full.
  • With less notice than that the deposit is normally not refundable, because the slot can no longer be given to somebody else.
  • If we cancel or cannot attend, you get the deposit back in full.

Separately from the above, because you are booking online you have a legal right to cancel within fourteen days. If you ask us to start the work inside that period and then cancel, we may charge for what has already been done.

Access and the appointment

You choose an arrival window rather than an exact time, because traffic and the job before yours are not things we can promise around. We will tell you when the engineer is on the way.

Somebody over eighteen needs to be at the property to let the engineer in. If nobody is there, or the engineer cannot safely get to the work, we may have to rearrange and treat it as a cancellation at short notice.

Our work

Gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers and electrical work by qualified electricians. Registrations of this kind belong to the individual engineer rather than to a company — ask yours to show you theirs when they arrive; they carry it and expect to be asked.

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the day the job is finished. If something we did goes wrong in that time, we come back and put it right at no charge. The guarantee covers our work, not the failure of a part or appliance you supplied, and not a separate fault that happens to appear later.

Manufacturer warranties on parts and appliances are separate and belong to the manufacturer; we will tell you what applies.

If something goes wrong

Tell us. Ring 020 7432 3868 or use the contact page, and we will look into it and tell you what we are going to do about it.

Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — work must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and that is not something we can write our way out of.

General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
